Take a few moments to review our pre-move information

We reserve the right to process the credit card on file for incomplete payments and/or outstanding balances. Interest on late payments is 24% per year (2% per month)

TIPPING

Tipping your crew 10-15% is customary on local moves if you enjoyed the service they provided. Please have cash on hand if you would like to tip your movers.

PARKING

Reserve ample parking for our truck(s). Be sure to have the parking area and walkways clear of debris, as well as other obstructions. If we can’t park our truck, we can’t move you! See how you can reserve space for our truck here!

ELEVATORS

If your building has elevators, they must be reserved for our movers. Please speak with your building administration. Our afternoon moves generally have an estimated 3-hour window during which our team can arrive. We occasionally run off schedule and are not liable for missing elevator reservation times.

EXTRA BOXES

If you require extra boxes (including wardrobes) please advise us in advance so we may stock them in our truck for you. Our trucks are not stocked with boxes, except when we are offering a packing service.

DANGEROUS GOODS / NON ADMISSIBLE ITEMS

Legally we cannot move these items . All liabilities and damages resulting from non-admissible items (packed in boxes or otherwise) that are handled by our employees without their prior knowledge is the responsibility of the client whose name appears on the contract. Clients must make alternate arrangements for their non-admissible items.

ITEMS TO BE MOVED BY THE CLIENT

Bust a Move Moving is not responsible for moving cash, jewelry, currency or prescription medicine. These items should be removed by the client before the Bust a Move Moving pack/move team arrive.

PACKING

If We Pack You: We highly recommend our packing service. Once we pack your goods, you will never do it yourself again! Call our office for details. We would be happy to arrange a professional packing crew for you.

If You Pack: We do sell packing supplies! Close and tape tops and bottoms of boxes. Clearly mark the destination of all boxes on the top and sides and mark FRAGILE as needed. All fragile items, including lamps, china, computers, stereo, etc. must be properly packed. Bust a Move Moving is not responsible for damaged items in boxes not professionally packed by us. Please see our video on proper packing techniques here. Watch our video on how to properly pack your boxes!

If you postpone or cancel more than 14 days prior to your move we will refund your deposit, minus a $35.00 booking fee. If you postpone or cancel less than 14 days prior to your move there is no refund of your deposit. Cancellations/Postponements made less than 72 hours before the scheduled start time of your move will incur a $250.00 cancellation fee. Deposits for June 30th and July 1st as well as long distance moves (+ 150 km) are non-refundable.

CONTENTS OF DRAWERS

The contents of all desk drawers must be removed. Lighter weight clothing (socks, underwear, t-shirts) may remain in dresser drawers, but please remove fragile, valuable and heavy items (i.e. perfume, jewelry, books, papers, etc.)

APPLIANCES

Empty the contents of your refrigerator and freezer. We cannot disconnect or reconnect any gas appliances or ice makers. Bust a Move Moving is not responsible for water damage as a result of moving appliances. The client must check the appliance connections for leaks. You can find more information on limitations of disconnecting and reconnecting appliances below.

BABY CRIBS

It is company policy that we do not re-assemble baby cribs. This is for the safety of your child and family. Not all movers are skilled with disassembly and reassembly and we can not risk putting a crib together incorrectly given the important consequences that could ensue.

ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE GUARANTEED

Particle Board: It is becoming increasingly popular for furniture manufacturers to use particle board (as an example: IKEA). These pieces can prove to be difficult when moving. Because of the unworthy structure of these pieces we are not able to accept liability for assembled particle board furniture. We can move disassembled particle board. Planters: We are happy to locally move your planters and plants. However, we cannot be held responsible for these items due to the brittle nature. Ceramic Smokers: These specialized smokers are made of a heavy ceramic material. These items are used to cook for many hours at a time and are often left out in the elements and weather. These factors break down the strength of the material and make them susceptible to breakage.

ESTIMATED COST

Is a budgetary tool used to provide you with the closest possible estimate for your move as described at the time of the estimate and does not constitute a final contract. The actual cost will reflect the time spent completing the move, travel time, materials, fuel surcharge and other charges when applicable. We are not responsible for any delays caused by traffic, construction, or road conditions. Working time begins when our truck arrives on site.

EXTRAORDINARY VALUE ITEMS (EVI)

We limit our liability for loss or damage to EVI’s. Items in your boxes which are of extraordinary value must be identified in writing and declared prior to shipment. These items are defined as items having a value greater than $25 per pound per item. If not identified, damage or loss will be treated under “Basic Transit Protection”. EVI’s include but are not limited to cash, antiques, crystal, precious stones, artwork, money, jewellery, silverware, cameras, figurines, furs, coins, oriental rugs, cell phones, mp3 players, etc.

INSPECTION

Upon completion of the move, please inspect the inside of the truck to ensure all of your belongings have been unloaded.

LOSS / DAMAGE

Loss and damage must be reported to us within 7 days from the end of the move. Any damages will be repaired by us or reimbursed based on the insurance coverage chosen. There will be no payments for repairs made by third parties unless authorized in advance.  Any property damage such as floors, stairs and walls will be covered only if identified to the movers at the time of the move and acknowledged by all parties.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Our movers are often asked to perform tasks that are outside of our limits of liability.

REMOVING DOORS AND RAILINGS

Removing your door(s) and/or railing(s) is sometimes necessary for certain items to fit.  Doing so can compromise hinges resulting in a door that closes differently once re-installed. Removing and reinstalling worn out screws and hinges may cause a door or handrail to sag, creak, jam, etc.  Removing doors or railings may cause the paint in surrounding areas to chip, peel, or crack and may compromise drywall, door frames, and stairs.  Removing a door or handrail is sometimes necessary to complete a move and poses potential risks. Bust a Move Moving will not be liable for any of the above-mentioned risks.

OVERSIZED ITEMS, DANGEROUS AND COMPLEX MANEOUVERS (Includes Hoisting)

Examples include hoisting furniture over a balcony, moving furniture through a window, balcony, mezzanine, window, spiral staircase and moving large items through tight spaces.  There are hundred of potential scenarios which could lead to unavoidable damage. In a situation where the item may cause injury in addition to property damage it is ultimately up to the crew lead to determine how to proceed.  Bust a Move Moving is not responsible for any direct or indirect damage to furniture or surroundings (flooring, stairs, door frames, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, etc.) because of a specific customer request. Bust a Move Moving will not be liable for any of the above-mentioned risks. ITEMS REQUIRING CRATING or EXTRA PROTECTION

Items made of glass, stone, or other delicate materials including but not limited to flat screen TVs, tabletops, statues, artwork, display cases. These items are generally shipped from the manufacturer in appropriate protective boxes, crates, or containers.  We will move these items without packaging or crating at the customer’s request, however we are not liable for these items unless they are packed and/or crated appropriately.
